At our July Board meeting Susan Marquis had checked into whether or not the Memphis Bop Club could hold our weekly dances in Mississippi. Susan found out that if we did this then we would loose our Tennessee Charter and we would have to hire an attorney and go through all the paperwork to get a Mississippi Charter. Since we are the Memphis Bop Club and have been for the last 21 plus years we do not see us changing our Tennessee Charter. So we will continue to look into finding a place to dance in Tennessee. Eddie was given another place which he will be checking into. I want to thank everyone who is coming to us with ideas of where to dance and please keep coming to us. We have been around too long to fold and believe me the Memphis Bop Club will never fold. We have too many dedicated dancers and are continuing to bring in new dancers every month. Our goal is to get back to dancing on Friday nights.
Our crowds on Sunday nights are picking up and its great to see everyone having a good time. I don’t know if it was Dora & Judi’s article that was in last months newsletter but whatever the reason please keep supporting the Memphis Bop Club. Barbara Cooley will not be able to have any dance lessons in August. Barbara will be checking out where and when they will start the dance lessons up in September, so keep reading her column for updates.
Don’t forget July is renewal for a lot of people, make sure that you renew your membership with the Memphis Bop Club if you want to continue to receive your monthly newsletter and keep up to date on what’s going on with the Memphis Bop Club. If you are not receiving your newsletter or if your birth date is not in the newsletter please let Judi Cassini or Louis Criswell know.
Winners of the special drawing held at the July Membership Meeting were: Barbara Richardson, won the weekend pass to “Rollin Across the River” in St. Louis on August 28—September 1, 2008; and Jackie Allensworth won the weekend pass to “Move Across the River” in Cincinnati on November 11-15, 2008. These are both ABA sponsored dance events.
Remember if you want to receive emails of what is going on in the club please send your email address to Carolyn Story at CStory1974@aol.com or to Millie Wood at mwood@shsm.org. If you have something you would like to see in the newsletter you can email Judi Cassini at dblshot@bellsouth.net.
